====== Symbol LS-9100 barcode scanner ====== Exact model n. LS-9100-400BC ===== Pinout and other notes ===== ^ RJ45 pin ^ function ^ internal connection ^ | 1 | GND | GND | | 2 | 485-A / 232-RX (DATA FROM READER TO HOST) | A of max485 and pin 15 of LT1180 | | 3 | don't know | don't know | | 4 | 232-TX (CMD FROM HOST TO READER) | | | 5 | don't know | don't know | | 6 | don't know | don't know | | 7 | 485-B / 232-RTS(*) | B of max485 and pin 8 of LT1180 | | 8 | +5 VCC | VCC | This barcode scanner seems to be capable of both rs485 and rs232 hardware standards, and maybe others? Internally, MAX485 takes DO, DE from and puts DI to the Philips mcu. #RE is taken from the Infineon mcu instead. (*) LT1180 (rs232 driver) has 2 outputs and 2 inputs, maybe two channels or, most probabily, one channel for TX/RX the other for RTS/CTS signals. Pin 9 and 14 of LT1180 (should be rs232 TX and CTS) are connected respectively to pin 6 and 11 of ???, an analog switch, then the track gets lost :( ==== Wiring for Basic functionality ==== Basic functionality is achieved with this wiring to PC's serial port ^ RJ45 to scanner ^ connection to PC or supply ^ | pin 1 | pin 5 of female DB9 and ground of external supply | | pin 2 | pin 2 of female DB9 | | pin 4 | pin 3 of female DB9 (optional) | | pin 8 | external +5Vcc supply | ===== Usage ===== You can find the user manual online. Barcodes (found in manual) to be used for Reset and setup of rs232 standard mode: SET ALL DEFAULTS (page 5-1) and STANDARD RS-232C (page 5-6). Now the scanner will TX onto serial port the scanned sequence. Default parameters 9600 baud, 8n1, no handshaking. To disable automatic beep and enable beep on request, use DO NOT BEEP AFTER GOOD DECODE (page 5-144) and BEEP ON CHARACTER (page 5-44)
